Cheap Wedding Bands

Cheap wedding bands questions and answers

Question: Cheap wedding?
I'm not fancy and I couldn't imagine spending so much money on one day. I have a photographer (great friend needs a portfolio), my fiance's brother does catering, my dad is good friends with a pastor... what are the major expenses on a wedding?
I hope to spend $500 or less on a dress and get simple wedding bands (my mom's diamond annoys her and I don't want one to get in the way). If its possible I could use my grandma's backyard for the ceremony too.

Answer: If you go to David's Bridal during their annual sale (which is going on now) you can get a beautiful gown for just $99.00. My niece got an $800.00 gown for just $99.00. You have already tackled the biggest expenses of the wedding and you need only rent the tables and chairs, table cloths, order all the flowers and decide on a band or DJ.

Question: Comfort-fit wedding bands?
The wedding band I picked out for my husband was back-ordered, so I placed and order and purchased a cheap band that was in-stock to use for the ring exchange in the ceremony. Both bands were size 10.5, and the cheap one fits perfectly.

However, now that we've received the more expensive, back-ordered one, it's too large. Do you generally have to order a smaller size for a comfort-fit ring?

The cheap one was not a comfort-fit, and the expensive one is.

Answer: A comfort-fit band is contoured - which could be the reason for a not-so-perfect fit. You can have it sized, though, so making it a 10 - instead of a 10.5 - would be the perfect change!

Question: Any cheap classical bands out there want to play at my wedding breakfast (meal)?

Question: What are titanium wedding bands? Is titanium a precious metal like gold?
Why are they so cheap? Are they like gold and platinum?

I was thinking of white gold and platinum bands. Is titanium better or just a cheaper rendition?

Answer: Titanium is a natural element, that is mined from the ground. It's stronger than gold and platinum, and hypoallergenic. It usually has a very dull finish to it, and doesn't shine as much as gold or platinum.

Titanium is cheaper than gold and platinum because it isn't considered a precious metal, but it's much more scratch resistant than gold and platinum. It's also a naturally grey-ish colour that never fades. It's also super light-weight. In fact, you'll feel like you're not really wearing anything when you're wearing it, as compared to gold, platinum or silver rings.

Titanium is a good choice, but keep in mind that once you buy a titanium ring, it can never be sized further in the future. So, as time goes by and you and your significant other's finger size changes, you'll be stuck with a titanium ring that cannot be sized, and you'll probably have to buy another ring to replace it.

Question: How much to spend on wedding bands?
My fiancé and I are planning to get married soon, and we're ring shopping right now for wedding bands.

This is our dilemma... We're not rich, but we're not poor. We wend to Wal-Mart just for the fun of it and found some pretty nice wedding band sets. Thing is, they range from $100 to $300 or so total. That seems a little cheap for something that's (hopefully!) supposed to last you for 50 years.

Then we went to a real jeweler. This wasn't a "luxury" store or anything like that, but most of their wedding bands range from $3,000 to $10,000, which seems a little extreme.

What's a reasonable price for a set of durable wedding bands? And where do you find something that's not scrap metal (Wal-Mart) but not super-expensive (jeweler)?

Answer: What you look at is not the price but the fit, comfort and look of the ring. Start with least expensive rings each jewler has and see if you can find one you actually like the look of, fits well and feels comfortable. Another thing to consider is materials. It's a little known fact that jewlers would just as soon no one knew that cheaper rings, to some extent, actually last longer than more expensive ones. One of the main costs in rings is the gold. A 14 karat gold ring costs more than a 10 karat gold ring for example. But, the 10 karat gold ring is harder and will maintain its shape and have fewer scratches and dents in it over time than the 14 karat ring. Gold is soft so the more gold is in a ring, the weaker the ring is. To the "untrained" eye, the metal of the two rings look the same. This is especially true of men's rings. Get the cheapest men's ring you can find that is still comfortable and you are happy with. The key with mens rings is to get ones with rolled edges. Some brands call them "comfort fit" rings. I've tried both comfort fit and "regular" rings and the comfort fit ones do feel better. When it comes to the lady's ring, pick one that you like the look of. You can find some really nice looking rings that don't have a lot of diamonds on them for less money. I also highly recommend staying away from rings that have stone settings that stick up a lot. You'll find yourself scratching people and getting your ring caught on clothes etc. if you do. Rings with low-profile stone settings are less hassle. Another option is to not use diamonds at all and go with a less expensive stone like maybe her birth stone or pearls.

Question: Is the tungesten ring a good type of wedding ring?
I was thinking about getting my fiancee a tungsten (metal) wedding band, but alot of places that i go to dont know what im talking about when i ask them if they have that type of ring. I guess what im trying to ask is if its a "cheap" type of ring or what it is? lol

Answer: Wow, you're really getting a variety of answers on this one.

My husband and I decided on a tungsten ring for his wedding band. He loves it. He does a lot of construction and hands-on work that can be dangerous and dirty, We decided on the tungsten because it doesn't scratch very easily and is very strong. But, it CAN be cut off in case of an emergency. It is NOT a safety risk for him.

With as dirty as he gets at work sometimes and as hard as he works, when he comes home and washes his hands his ring is still as beautiful as the day I first put it on him.

Good luck, and Congratulations!!!!
